On the last weekend, two Port au Prince-productions celebrated their premiere at this year’s edition of the Filmfest Hamburg. CORTEX, the directional debut of Moritz Bleibtreu featuring a cast lead by Jannis Niewöhner, Nadja Uhl and Moritz Bleibtreu himself was euphorically received by the Filmfest’s audience on Friday night. The production by Paloma Entertainment, Port au Prince Film & Kultur Produktion and Warner Bros. Germany will hit German cinemas on October 22nd and will be distributed by Warner Bros.
The next day, CAGED BIRDS, the new film by director Oliver Rihs featuring a stunning cast lead by acclaimed actresses and actors such as Marie Leuenberger, Joel Basman and Jella Haase premiered on the festival’s big screen. The Swiss-German co-production by Contrast Film, Port au Prince Film & Kultur Production and Niama, in cooperation with the BR, ARTE and HR, follows the passionate attorney Barbara Hug and the criminal Walter Stürm who, in 1980s Switzerland, fight to reform the reactionary Swiss juridical system. On February 25th the film will be released in Germany by the Port au Prince Pictures.
