By chance, 13-year-old Sarah from the Munich high-rise neighborhood of Neuperlach discovers the Finnish sport “hobby horsing” online, in which teenagers compete in tournaments riding stick horses, and she is immediately enthusiastic. Her best friend Dilek finds Sarah’s new hobby rather embarrassing, but eventually lets herself be persuaded to join in. When they become the laughingstock of the school, Dilek and Sarah fall out.
But when Sarah meets the competitive rider Beatrice, who suffers under the pressure of her ambitious mother, she finds a new ally. Beatrice trains her, and the two set off on their own to travel to Finland for the major Hobby Horsing Championship.
