Imagine you have to hide – but then, the stage is your’s!

The art-thieves Vincent (Bernhard Schütz) and Nils (Jacob Matschenz) are just about to reach their goal: “The Black Square”, a 60 million dollar painting, is lying in their cruise ship cabin, waiting to be handed over to their client. But just before the handover is about to go down, they have an unexpected appointment…on the cruise ship’s entertainment stage. And while the two of them have to torment themselves as Elvis- and David-Bowie-Impersonators, unknown thieves steal “The Black Square”…! Using idiosyncratic methods, Vincent – a failed artist himself – replicates the painting. And as his replication is stolen as well, he just keeps on faking the artwork.

Meanwhile, the noose tightens for Vincent and Nils: Nils is exposed and Vincent suddenly falls in love – without realizing that his crush Martha (Sandra Hüller) is seeking his proximity for only one thing: “The Black Square”…

THE BLACK SQUARE will be released in German cinemas on Nov 11th.
